Arthur Boscher

DJ Finance

Does he remember his first contact with computers? The answer doesn’t take long: “I was about eight years-old, my brother gives me his old me game console, I became electrified, and the passion for games has never left me”, remembers Arthur, today a functional finance consultant.

From there, Arthur will develop an appetite beyond what’s normal for computing. “Wednesday afternoon, my father allowed access to games on his computer, I loved it. I wanted to know how it worked, I was passionate.” When he was sixteen, he builds computers from A to Z for his friends, depending on their budget. “Financially, it was more interesting for them and for me, it was but from a technical standpoint”, explains Arthur. And more generally, he’s not the kind to get cold feet.

Nouvelle France!

Even in the extreme Montréal winter temperatures. Towards the end of the 90s, his

parents open a bed and breakfast in Canada. “Storms are frequent and when temps

drop to - 4°F, the authorities advise people to stay at home. No school those days,

remembers Arthur with a smile, then a middle and high-schooler. But, if you were

bundled-up, nothing would problem for us to play in the snow!.”

Of the former Nouvelle France, Arthur keeps the openness of mind of its inhabitants,

their dynamism and a real kindness. Still resonates in him their defense of French

culture and a certain pride to be part of it. Back in France, schooling goes on

classically for an Arthur curious about everything, a bit turbulent kid who finds

sometimes hard to resist to crack open stink bombs in class. Nothing that will

prevent him for earning a master’s in systems information at the Polytech Nice

Sophia University.

On known terrain

After graduation, a friend gives him a contact at Avanade. There, he discovers the

business of ERP pro-software integration. He works on Geodis with Jonathan, an

external Flexmind consultant. A bond is created. Their paths will diverge but will

cross again. Later, Arthur will choose Flexmind, with a more human size, that

Jonathan will leave, just before his arrival.

Some years later, Arthur becomes a freelancer and leads some assignments,

without really being busy full-time. Jonathan contacts him then for a year-long

assignment. Arthur enters the FiveForty° ecosystem but does not reach terra

incognita. “I already had the opportunity to work with Jérôme on Geodis. As well as

with Hervé, Amel and Michel. I did feel at ease”, completes Arthur. Today, the young

consultant works again on Geodis, here again on known terrain. “I had had the

experience of the Geodis solution in the past. It is a truly very specific solution and

it’s a real advantage to know all of its ins and outs.” Today, transversal subjects

keep him likewise busy such as SQL databases or the writing of specifications linked

to the finance realm. In his work, Arthur would like to spend less time behind the

screens, but, being realistic, he adds: “there will always be deliverables that make

this time incompressible.” On the other hand, what he appreciates in his work, it’s

the permanent newness: “Even if it’s still about finance, it’s stimulating; never the

same old-old from one client to the next.”

The right mix

In all situations, Artur knows the music. Even outside of work. His activity as a DJ,

a passion he shares with his girlfriend Mélanie is proof. Together, they are the life of

evenings in bars or on péniches (former river-going boats) getting together

sometimes up to 400 persons. “We play in particular  Chicago and US music from

the 98s. Rhythms issued from an Afro-American culture that knew how to sample

funk and jazz standards without denaturing them, making one’s feet instantly

keep the beat”, this BPM* specialist tells us, who, no doubt is not done making

numbers dance.°
